Call for papers for SA GeoTech 2017

The official call for papers for the inaugural SA GeoTech 2017 conference has been issued and interested parties are encouraged to submit papers in line with the conference theme: “Showcasing geospatial technologies for precision, planning and performance.”

The SA GeoTech 2017 conference and exhibition is a platform for showcasing geomatics technologies, tools, skills and services. The event takes place on 25 and 26 July 2017 at Emperors Palace in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng and is hosted by EE Publishers. PositionIT is the media partner for this event.

The event aims to enhance the geo-intelligence skills of delegates with the intention of providing their organisations with strategic management insights, enhanced performance and efficiency, and added business value. Delegates from across the economic spectrum are welcome to attend SA GeoTech 2017.

Authors and presenters are invited to submit papers of approximately 2000-3000 words for presentation at the conference in line with the conference theme and the four sub-themes which are detailed below:

  • South African geo-intelligence: what’s available & how it’s used
  • Technologies for geospatial data acquisition
  • Optimising performance with geo-intelligence
  • Geo-visualisation tools for decision support

Proprietary technologies, products and services may be described, and papers detailing successful client applications of the technology, product or skills will receive preference.

Within the theme and sub-themes of the conference, there will be a focus on leading-edge geomatics technologies, skills, solutions and applications for business leaders, managers, data analysts, engineers, scientists, project managers and decision-makers from all sectors of the economy. These will include:

  • Technologies for collecting, processing and disseminating geospatial-intelligence.
  • Extracting strategic business value from geospatial data.
  • 3D geospatial technologies for infrastructure projects and planning.
  • Optimising geo-visualisation analysis for enhanced efficiency and decision making.
  • Geo-intelligence for optimising performance across the South African economy
  • Geodata management for asset operation and maintenance.
  • Geospatial imagery for management support and planning.
  • Monitoring and data management solutions for spatially-enabled enterprises.
  • Optimising retail and governmental operations with geo-intelligence.
  • Geospatial applications for resource management – water, mining, agriculture and environment.
  • Geomatics tools for infrastructure development – energy, construction, transport, education and health.
  • Mapping and navigation technologies for optimised performance across all economic sectors.
  • Geo-visualisation tools and platforms for extracting geospatial intelligence.
  • Co-ordinated geospatial data management for enhanced strategic efficiencies.

Parties interested in submitting papers for the SA GeoTech 2017 conference and exhibition should take note of the key dates for abstract and paper submissions which are outlined below:

Call for papers: 9 February 2017
Submission of abstracts for selection:  30 April 2017
Notification of acceptance for presentation of a paper: 15 May 2017
Submission of final full-text paper for approval: 30 June 2017
Presentation of papers at SA GeoTech 201725 and 26 July 2017
